We are proud of our vibrant student body. And we know that being a part of a global community comes with the responsibility of living thoughtfully and caring for those within and around it.
Through daily conversations, arts, athletics, and even service projects like raking leaves for our surrounding neighbors, LCA students are learning what it means to practice justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God.
At Lexington Christian Academy we believe in cultivating the whole person; Heart, Mind, Body, and Soul. Here is a story about cultivating the heart.
A Student Story
Riccardi is a senior at LCA. He participates in Chamber Singers and is involved with the Theatre Department. He is also a teacher’s assistant for our MakerSpace. Riccardi was recently interviewed for our magazine The Academy Lantern, and when asked how LCA has shaped him, he said:
“LCA has been a great opportunity for me because the Christian environment creates an atmosphere that allows people to speak about life productively. This atmosphere is one that allows Christians and non-Christians alike to voice their opinions and feel welcomed at LCA.I personally believe that this environment is what has made me want to understand the things that occur in the world.”
Here is the full interview with Riccardi:
How did you decide to attend LCA and what were your first impressions?
I have been at LCA since 6th grade. My mom wanted me to attend and I remember not wanting to leave the public-school system since all my friends were there, but as soon as I got to LCA I loved it. Everyone was so friendly.
What teacher has made the biggest impact on your time at LCA?
Every teacher I have had at LCA has been a great influence on my life, but I would like to highlight the impact that my academic advisor Mrs. Jean Noh has had. Thanks to her I became interested in attending an engineering camp my freshman year. At that camp I realized that my aspirations for the future were not actually misplaced, and that the world of engineering and science was accessible. Equally, she was a great help in understanding my own strengths and weaknesses. I believe that was a defining moment in my life.
What do you hope to do after graduating from LCA?
I plan on pursuing education in engineering, particularly computer science because of the impact it will have on our world. I was inspired to pursue computer science after taking a video game programming class during Academics in Action. The world is rapidly changing, and I would like to be on the forefront of that advancement. I’m also interested in studying business to broaden my career opportunities.
Tell us about your role as a MakerSpace Teacher’s Assistant.
Being able to be a TA in the MakerSpace has been a great experience. My primary responsibilities are cleaning and organizing as well as answering questions that students might have. It’s great to be able to see what other students are working on or developing.
