ANNOUNCING NEW HEAD OF SCHOOL, JOHN KHOURI – 3/13/2024

Lexington Christian Academy’s Board of Trustees is delighted to announce the selection of John Khouri as the next Head of School, beginning July 1, 2024. The Board unanimously approved the Search Committee’s recommendation to appoint John, following a yearlong, nationwide search process.

“We are confident that his leadership will significantly contribute to the continued success, growth, and mission of our school,” says Chairman of the Board of Trustees Michael Landers P’22, ’25, ’27, ’29. “His deep faith and his commitment to fostering an innovative and nurturing learning environment align with the cherished values of LCA.”

For the past 11 years, John Khouri has served as a member of faculty and Dean of Entrepreneurialism and Global Leadership at Village Christian School in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to his work at Village Christian School, John served as the Executive Director of The Woodcrest Schools, Inc. following a 16-year career in the tech and media industries.

Originally from the Greater Boston Area, John holds a BA from Brandeis University and an MA in Marketing Communication & Advertising from Emerson College. He is expected to complete his time in the Van Lunen Ascending Leaders program at Calvin University later this year.

“I feel incredibly blessed and thrilled for the opportunity to contribute to the legacy of Lexington Christian Academy,” says John Khouri. “For 78 years, LCA has been a beacon of light throughout eastern Massachusetts and beyond, setting our children on a path to building a life of purpose and service. I promise to employ my whole energy to support the incredibly talented teachers, coaches, staff and parents in fulfilling our mission to educate young men and women in the arts and sciences with a whole commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

John Khouri succeeds James Talkington as Interim Head of School 2023-2024, and Christine Metzger, who served as Head of School for seven of the last eleven years.

Please join us in welcoming John, his wife Carrie, and his son George to the LCA community this summer.

AN UPDATE FROM MICHAEL LANDERS – 10/17/2023

Dear LCA Community,

We wanted to provide you with a quick update on our Head of School search process.  I am pleased to share that our Head of School search has progressed remarkably well. As we communicated in our update this past spring, Our search consultant, NextEd, has been working hard all summer and they have diligently sourced a number of strong candidates from diverse backgrounds, enriching the pool of potential leaders. We anticipate semi-finalist meetings with the leading candidates by the end of October, aiming to conclude the evaluation and selection process with a final candidate by the year’s end. Your continued support and prayer for this entire process is invaluable as we embark on this crucial and important journey for the future of our school.  Please know that our entire board of trustees continues to be in earnest prayer for this search process, specifically asking that God would give us extra wisdom, discernment and unity as we evaluate who God may be raising up as LCA’s next Head of School.  Thank you for all you do in support of our LCA community.

Best regards,
Michael J. Landers P’22, P’25, P’27, P’29
Chairman of the Board of Trustees

A MESSAGE FROM MICHAEL LANDERS

Dear LCA Community,
We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on the ongoing search for a new Head of School at Lexington Christian Academy.
As previously announced in March, our Board of Trustees established a Head of School Search Committee back in December. This committee, led by Ted Wheatley, a dedicated member of our board for over 12 years, has been working diligently to ensure a successful search process.
In a school-wide communication on March 3rd, 2023, we shared with the LCA Community that the committee had two main objectives. First, to engage a reputable search firm that specializes in comprehensive Head of School searches, and second; to develop an interim Head of School plan in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and key administrators.
We are pleased to inform you that we have made significant progress on both fronts and would like to provide the following updates:
  • Search Firm: We have enlisted the services of NextEd, a highly regarded consulting and search firm. Comprised of former heads of Christian schools, NextEd brings a wealth of experience and an extensive network in the educational field. In April, they visited LCA to meet with key leaders and constituents, gaining a comprehensive understanding of our school and community. With assistance from our LCA team, NextEd has created a detailed “Profile” outlining the key qualities and qualifications required for the Head of School position. The Profile, which describes the exciting opportunity at LCA, has been shared through their professional and personal networks, industry distribution channels, and social media sites. You can access the Profile HERE. At this time, we are currently on schedule per NextEd’s timeline with all applications from interested candidates due by September 22nd, 2023, and as such, the search committee anticipates meeting with prospective candidates in October/November with a final decision on the next Head of School made by December of 2023.
  • Interim Head of School: We have appointed James Talkington as our Interim Head of School for the upcoming 2023/24 school year. With 24 years of experience in education, Mr. Talkington has been an integral part of Lexington Christian Academy for the past 19 years, serving in various key roles. We have full confidence in his ability to provide strong leadership during this transitional period. Since his appointment, James has enthusiastically embraced his new role and has been actively preparing for his new responsibilities as Interim Head of School.
We will continue to keep you informed about the progress of our search process. We humbly ask for your continued prayers as our community seeks God’s guidance and continued faithfulness for the upcoming school year at Lexington Christian Academy.
Best regards,
Michael J. Landers P’22, P’25, P’27, P’29
Chairman of the Board of Trustees
